Study: Pacific Crest
Securing live national coverage from a remote location
Situation:
Pacific Crest had recently repositioned itself from a full-service
regional firm to a highly focused, Internet-centric investment bank
with national reach. The firm's annual e-conference brought together
portfolio managers from major institutional investors and executives
from leading public and pre-IPO Internet and Internet-infrastructure
companies. Pacific Crest wanted to use its flagship investment banking
conference to reach the technology and financial media with its
message. But the event was planned for Vail, far from any national
media outlets.
Solution:
Landrey & Company developed a strategic plan to leverage the
attendance of several high-profile Internet company CEOs. We launched
a media relations campaign inviting major financial media and the
Internet-focused press. To facilitate coverage by the financial
cable television media, Landrey & Company brought in a satellite
truck and crew and offered its services to the media.
Outcome:
Pacific Crest's conference received substantial print and broadcast
coverage. The CEOs of eBay, Go2Net and VerticalNet conducted live
interviews for the financial cable television media. Dow Jones issued
multiple stories each day and follow-up coverage appeared in financial
and Internet publications. The event helped build awareness of Pacific
Crest and its analysts, who are now frequently called by media to
comment on trends and financial events. Most notably, in the months
following the conference, Pacific Crest saw a double-digit increase
in transactions with its clients.
